OpeningForge is a personal chess opening intelligence workspace. We are committed to respecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.We do not sell your data. Ever.

OpeningForge is currently a local-first workspace. If accounts are introduced in the future, the only information collected will be what is necessary to authenticate you — such as an email address — and it will never be shared with third parties for marketing.

Your opening books, saved lines, annotations, and training progress are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless a future export or sync feature is explicitly enabled by you.

OpeningForge may use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to understand which features are used and to improve stability. Analytics never include the contents of your repertoire, your saved positions, or personally identifying information.

The app uses only strictly necessary storage (such as localStorage) to keep your session and preferences working. No advertising cookies are used.

OpeningForge queries public chess data services (such as the ChessDB cloud opening database) to enhance analysis. Only the current board position (FEN) is sent to these services — no account, identity, or personal information is included.

Because your study data lives on your device, its security depends primarily on your browser and operating system. We recommend keeping both up-to-date. Any future sync features will use encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS).

Local data persists in your browser until you clear it. You can remove your OpeningForge data at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings.

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete any data associated with your use of OpeningForge. Because storage is local, you already have full control today.

OpeningForge is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Substantive changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
